I have just completed my first run... and am very proud of myself, and surprised that i actually did it
Thank you for all your post's about the '2nd run'...... I was just thinking how much easier it would be on Thursday, then I read the board... Well, at least it wont come as too much of a shock now!!

I just finished W3R2 today! (I'm not sure how that happened, but I did it!) I found that week 3 so far has been the "easiest" if you can call any of this easy. And I think I can say that because my head knew I ONLY had to do TWO three minute runs! I started out 5 weeks ago, my body wasn't ready to move on to each week as the program suggested so I repeated week 1 & week 2 both before moving on to week 3, and I am so glad I reapeated each of them. I really feel like I prepared my body for a successful progress of week 3, and so far I don't feel the need to repeat week 3 before moving on to week 4!

Hi DesertBloom - you're right, we're at exactly the same stage! Week 3 starts tomorrow! Feeling apprehensive to say the very least .... But has there been a run ghat I haven't felt apprehensive about?
I'm glad that this post is helping the other newbies to prepare for what lies ahead! The second run was far and away the hardest for me ... I crawled to the bath! - but I'm overweight and incredibly unfit so I think that most will probably cope a little better than I did!
The way I look at it is this:
I really don't know it I'll ever get as far as the 5k
.... But I'm already off the couch!

I'm at the end of week 7 - which is 25 min runs.

I hadn't run for exercise since my last PE class when I was 15 - and I'm 48 now. Since 5th March, when I began, I've lost 2.7kg but that has also involved working hard to keep down the calories too.

My experience of this program is it never really gets easier, as such, because that's the way it's meant to be. Each week as we get fitter, Get Running pushes us a bit harder.

What changes though is you'll find yourself being able to run further and further, and even faster, without being any more exhausted than you were after that day 1 run.

Some days are harder than others both physically and mentally but somehow I just keep going. I think it's got a lot to do with the voice prompts.

I've always hated running, and I can't say I'm anymore enamoured to it, so I am more surprised than anyone that I have been succeeding at this.

I don't think I will really enjoy running until I level out after week 9 and just keep doing 30 minute runs.

My goal is to be able to run 5kms in 30 minutes without feeling dead during or after. Then I will be a happy runner.
