Hey all, Derek from Canberra Australia here.

Loving this Get Running app, I just did run 1 of week 3 today and feeling great. I've enjoyed reading about everyone else's journey so I thought I'd put something about me down too. The week 5 20 min is getting closer! I'm looking forward to conquering it. Today was a 3 min run, I was happy to do that! Anyway, good luck everyone and keep up the good work, your body will thank you :)

Cheers.

Hi everyone, just finished my second run this morning. I live in regional Australia. I've done plenty of exercise over the years, but never liked running. I'm excited to get into such a convenient, free and healthy exercise. Surprised by how manageable it is so far!

Just finished week 1 run 3. Also downloaded 'log your run' so I could keep track of distance and routes. It shows my data as a chart of 'mile splits' and I have no idea what that means. Anyone have any idea?

Hi everyone,
I got this app a couple of weeks ago after deciding this is the year I finally get myself fit! As I'm sure is the case with many of you-I've said this to myself many times before but it's never lasted. I'm now on week 2 of this app and I've just done run 2 today...so far I'm loving it! I really like the way it motivates you to keep going as you see what dates you should be running. The lady telling me how long I have left too is very helpful. I feel so much fitter already and I can't wait til my next run day!
Thanks for making this! Good luck everyone...
Vic

Hi, my name is Sarah. I'm 30 years old and I live in Pennsylvania, U.S. After several "false starts," where W1 was such a challenge that I quit after a week or two of trying, I finally started at the beginning again recently and am now up to W5, dreading W5R3 like everyone else.

I'm running because I used to consider myself an athlete, but the years, laziness and a recent health issue have made me out of shape and overweight. So I'm running for fitness, I'm running for weight loss (I hope).

Oh, and I'm running to train for the Warrior Dash http://warriordash.com/register2010_mid-atlantic.php, too. My first 5K. What was I thinking?

Hi all

I'm Susan, I live in the heart of a very wet (tonight) London and have been a fitness junkie for pretty much all of my adult life (I'm now 48). However, I could never crack the running thing and I've also been an injury magnet over the last 3 years or so. In spite of that, I set my heart on running a marathon over a year ago, but because of persistent tightness in my calves and pains in my shins and feet, my marathon goal gradually turned into a half-marathon, then a 10k and now...well, no danger of me running any races this year. I was really disheartened until I read an article about someone in a similar position to me (sporty but prone to injury) who had scaled right back to a walk-run programme and built up to long distances with no injury issues. I decided I'd give it a try and then came across the Get Running app. I'm now on Week 3, 3rd run tomorrow and I'm loving it! No problems thus far with calves, shins or feet and it's great not having to peer at a watch face in the dark while trying to run.

The last week of the programme for me coincides with the date of the marathon I'd planned to run. I won't be doing that, but there is a 5k on the same weekend. So, who knows...maybe I will get to run a race this year after all!

Greetings from Northern Virginia, USA

43 y/o, 305 lbs (21st 11lb), high blood pressure and recently separated from my wife of 18 years.

Time to make some life changes!

Week 1, Day 1 went surprisingly well. I wasn't able to complete even that 12 months ago!

W1, D2 is tomorrow at 0400.

hi all! my name is louis. i'm 23 years old and live in sydney, australia.

i've become extremely sedentary over the last few months. i used to have a part time job that kept me quite active, but since i left in january i've been pretty lazy and not doing a great deal while at uni.

i've tried the couch to 5k a few times before, but never made it past the second week due to lack of motivation. this time i've made it to my 7th week of running, although i'm only on the 5th week of the programme (i repeated week 4 twice), and i'm feeling great about it!

Hi everyone, I'm in Memphis, Tn in the US and I am new to running. I started the c25k just over a week ago. I started out on the treadmill. When one of the trainers realized that I was doing the c25k program, he told me to get off of the treadmill and try running outside. I told him that running on the treadmill was easier on my legs due to shin splints. I don't currently have shin splints because I have been resting them for about 2 months. I started 2 months ago and quit because of them. So I tried running outside yesterday (run 2 of week 2 ) and I realized that I had no pain in my shins but this was much harder than the treadmill. Well I finished it (yay!) and realized that I had been doing myself a disservice by running on the treadmill. It's going to get better. Is it advisable for me to walk outside on the days that I do not run?

Hi all, Andrew from a small town not far from Melbourne, Australia.

I am someone with terrible eating habits who knows that 28 years is about as long as I can get away with it, so my lack of regular exercise was going to prove troublesome soon, if I hadn't found something to motivate me.

Get Running has been revelatory- after only 4 weeks I've already discovered that what was missing all those other times I tried gyms or swimming or cycling was someone to tell me what to do, when to do it, and to egg me on when my will is flagging.

'Emma' (as I've christened her), the GR coach, is just the ticket. If you'd told me I'd be able to run for 3 entire minutes and feel good at the end of it a month ago, I'd have laughed. Don't know how I'll go with five minutes on my next runs, but looking forward to giving it a go.

Great to read all your stories and look forward to reporting that I've managed 28 mins in the week before Christmas!
