WOW....... That was tough!!!
Re: WOW....... That was tough!!!
WELL DONE for keeping going Hostiemostie, I know exactly how hard it is to have to skip back a bit and find it all a bit of a struggle again. But you're doing the right thing for your body and showing great resilience in keeping going, and you'll reap the rewards when your fitness is stronger and you find subsequent weeks easier than you thought you would! You'll be running for 20 minutes before you know it. Hope you feel better soon!

So here we are, the sweating sisters......
Hostiemostie: keep going, you will be fine, just respect your body. I had a light cold last week and took two extra days off to rest. It almost made me feel, or actually : it did make me feel quilty. I am a bit strict on this - always afraid that once I start skipping the discipline I will skip it all together. Stupid shit I am thinking there because I am a very determined person, I must be able to realise this as well.....
Dixie and Toadie: respect girls!!!! I am W5R3 on Sunday - you both are just ahead of me. Maybe silly but I keep thinking once you passed W5 and W6 you will have made the transmission to "longer" non-stop running. After that the mind will start to accept it more and more.
Anyway I hope so. For now my mistress is Claire, no stopping untill she tells me to.
Take care u all

Hope everyone is doing OK - I have developed a SHOCKER of a cold and have been feeling rough since Friday night meant to run today but everything is so bunged up I don't know if I can! Going to see how I feel after work... but it's rotten to feel like I can't go out and run, ugh, I just want to get on with week 6!
Re: WOW....... That was tough!!!
Hi all
Lizmisje - you are right - definitely a mental thing. I really discovered how true that was on the 20 min run. Once I knew I could stop I felt I could go on for ages!
Well done again for Friday Toadie! I say again as I have just told you well done on my 'Go Me' thread! Sorry to hear about the cold though. You must be fed up. I understand completely that feeling of frustration when you have got into a routine and the running is going well and then something comes along that you know will set you back. I wouldn't push yourself if you are feeling unwell? Don't worry if you have to take time out - you will soon be up and going again and I am sure you won't have to go back and repeat too many runs. I must admit, I was just thinking 'hmm - my throat feels a little sore......'
Well done hostiemostie! Don't underestimate how much having a bug can take out of your body. A lot of your energy is going towards fighting it off. Well done for getting going again! Keep it up!

Re: WOW....... That was tough!!!
Just done w6r2. I think it was the toughest one yet. I think the main problem with week 6 is that after the 20 minute run in week 5, you think that all these intervals afterwards should be easy - but you're actually running for the same amount of time as last week, so of course it's still tough. But then you get discouraged that you're finding it tough because you feel like it should be easy. That's my experience, anyway.
BUT the good news is the intervals are gone forever now! Just have to remember that this programme is a CHALLENGE, it's meant to be difficult in places, but that's what makes completing it all the sweeter. I'm looking forward to the 25 minutes now! Even though, my word, getting up and out of the door in the dark mornings is a struggle... I'm so not a morning person!

Back on track.
Unfortunately life (shift work, birthdays, weekends out, weather) has recently got in the way of my 'get running' progress, but this morning I dug (VERY) deep to muster some will power, strapped the trainers on and headed out to FINALLY finish W4!!!!!
I feel like such a slacker, I was doing so well up until a few weeks ago and should in theory be finishing W6 by now. However, I'm still proud that I managed to persevere even though the last 5 minute run was such a struggle.
I'm also a little bored of W4 now, I restarted it and so the 3 min/5 min intervals are getting tedious. W5 is quite an exciting prospect.
Well done to you all for doing so well, look forward to hearing the updates soon. Xx

Well done!! Know exactly what you mean about getting bored of a particular interval patter. Thankfully it will soon pass! Also, if I hadn't had to repeat weeks I'd be done with the whole thing by now - but you can't expect too much of a body just learning how to run - it takes as long as it takes. Awesome progress!

Re: WOW....... That was tough!!!
Dear sweating sisters,
this is humbling: last dates 14 - 17 - 19 (that was W5R2
shin splints, I thought I'd take some rest: 24-10 restart with W5R1
my right leg is nagging me more: inside lower right leg towards the shin.
It doesn't sting but is stiff.
I have been blaming myself because in that week I have walking around on very high heels
(10 cm) since long . No problems in walking on them but I suspect I have adressing mucles
which were getting used to other kinds of activities.
Or I have been simply overdoing my trainings - but I did keep a good eye on warming up and cooling down..
So now 8 days later,,,, HOW am I going to get restarted?
I have had a rough week at work listening to other people's problems, I have eating myself way way too much (feels like I gained 3kg), I am having my periods,
I feel like a complete disaster, been so tired I even went to bed way way early
I suppose I could go back to week three W3R1 or so, I don't know anymore how to pick this up
Any advise ?

Re: WOW....... That was tough!!!
Oh dear, sorry to hear you've been having a rough time. If I were you, I would pick up at w5r1. I bet you can do it, and you'll feel so encouraged when you do. Just take it super slow, trust that you can do it and go for it!
Re: WOW....... That was tough!!!
Today I repeated W4R1... and I STILL didn't make it
I did do better than when I tackled this circuit on Saturday, but it seems I just can't quite get past the 1/2 way mark of the last 5 min run. I am going to rest for 2 days now, and try again (W4R1) on Thursday. Any suggestions?
