Week 4 R1 Complete - Yippee!

I was really worried about today's run. I tried to do it yesterday, although it was scheduled for today, because I hate starting a new run on a Sunday, it just seem like it should be a day of rest. LOL. I couldn't force myself through a minute of running yesterday so I held off until today, and I'm so glad I did. It was much easier than I expected, but that doesn't mean I didn't feel like throwing up after I was done. It feels like such an accomplishment to be able to run for 5 minutes straight. WOW, I feel great. :D

That is AWESOME :!: Laura, my week 4 run 1 starts tomorrow. Feeling guilty, I just had a horrible supper, sausage gravy, biscuits, eggs & sausages. I"m stuffed and thinking bout my run in the morning. Lol. Any tips for me?

You got this, that dinner will be fully digested by then. LOL. My tips, put on some really good running music. It totally helps to have something with a beat that you can lip sync (or sing out loud too) as you run. And don't look at the time, just keep running and slow down your pace now and again, it is really what kept me going to the five minute mark. Good luck!

Thanks Laura,
I did make it, Yay! Thank the Lord! Isnt it strange how we can let fear take over and almost eat us up? I listened to music as I ran, but there would be no way I could sing and run, lol, I would pass out, he!he! This forum is great, I love the support. When is your run 2? Tuesday? I've not checked do we run the same for 2 and 3 as we did the first one?

I just did week4 run 1 today. Got a twinge in my calf after first minute, almost stopped but ignored it. It soon eased off, oddly I found the second half easier than the first. Music really is the key for me too, when it gets tough, I just think, if I can make it to the end of the song, I'll be ok.

Hi Linda,

My 2nd run of W4 is today! I have been running on the treadmill but am going to take the run outside today. The main reason is I am getting bored on the treadmill and if I really want to run a 5k I would like to mix in some runs in the great outdoors. And this is beautiful Colorado, so really I should be doing some of my runs outside in our beautiful weather! Do I get extra training points since I am running at mile high altitude? :)
