Ready to quit, and move on to something new

Ok so, I ran 18 mins of week 7 run 1 today. I'm starting to doubt the use of long distance running. From what I've read its of little use
For cardiovascular health, doesn't burn much fat and can infact inhibit muscle growth.
I find running for this length of time uncomfortable, nauseating and boring. Although I love the app, I think the first 5 weeks are the most useful. I'm considering quitting the slow 5ks and starting a sprinting programme. I feel it will be more beneficial to my health and fitness.
What do you think?
