Had to stop halfway because my calves cramped and no matter how much I stretched they wouldn't let go. I thought I would vomit it was hurting so much. So gutted and cross. They are still hurting now after an hour and a shower. Going to have a bath and see if that helps. Dammit!

Oh no - Not completing a run is horrid - it's so emotional following this programme.

I'm on week 8 now just about to embark on week 9 and I do think the most important thing I've learnt is that even a bad run adds to your over all fitness. So when it feels better you'll get going again and week 2 will seem a doddle.

All the best for the next one x

Oh no! Cramping sucks. Maybe you should see a physio if it's really causing you trouble? A bath will probably help - also drinking something warm and salty, like Bovril, and making sure you stretch lots (which you're already doing). But keep at it - even half a run is so much better than sitting around at home, and will contribute to your progress!

Still a bit sore this morning, hoping to be able to attempt it again tomorrow. I probably just have to get used to it, I've gone from doing zero exercise so my muscles are probably in shock! But I shall persevere :-)

How did it go? Has the cramping stopped? Which week are u on now? I went to a runner group for beginners last year and I wouldn't have said I was unfit but I was certainly not a runner- I was more an aerobics/ Zumba type person- still overweight mind!
Anyway, when I was about half way through this runner course, all of a sudden out of nowhere started these awful cramps in BOTH my calf muscles AT THE SAME TIME!! I was freaking out as this had never happened to me before- basically everyone said to me that I needed more salt in my diet and to eat a banana every day!
I wouldn't say I've increased salt but I do eat a banana every day now - especially on the run days and its never happened again since! Hope urs is ok now!
