I'm new with a couple of questions

I started the program on Wednesday, I did pretty good and felt proud of myself, after all I am a couch potato and getting up like that felt good. However, about 4 hours later I had some pain in my calves and upper leg. I figured it was just because I am out of shape, yesterday I felt much better and thought I would be able to run today, but when I woke up I could barely walk. I was just wondering if this is normal or if I had possibly done something to hurt myself. I really want to run today, but I also don't want to hurt myself. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Sounds like overworked muscles to me. If they're really painful, don't run on them. Instead, just go for a good long walk. That will also help to stretch them out too.
When you're ready for your next run, make sure you're doing the warm up and cool down time, and make sure you really stretch after running. You want to be holding each stretch on each side for about thirty seconds, which will seem like a very long time!
For your first few weeks, if you can, it's great to get the big muscles massaged too. Even rubbing them yourself will help a lot. No harm in taking a nice warm bath or shower too
I hope that will help!
Happy running,
