Pain on the back of my leg.

I have been running for 3 weeks but my right leg started to hurt at the end of week 2 it hurts on the back of my knee the muscle it feels like I pulled something. When I bend my leg and then stand on it, it hurts but then the pain subsides a little. Why does it hurt?
