Tonight was my "off" day (besides my ankle is feeling stiff after my first run/walk session yesterday!). I just went for a walk with the labrador tonight - and tried out out RunKeeper on my iPhone. It's really great (and is free) - tracks and records distance, time and pace - and then when you are finished uploads the session to your profile on the web site. Also records a Google map of your route. A great way to keep a log, track your progress and record your weekly total (after years of using runners log books).

Does anybody know whether you can run Get Running and RunKeeper at the same time on the iPhone 4? It would be great to use Get Running for your walk/run session - but also use RunKeeper to record your times and distances. I could test this out myself, I guess - but I am interested to hear your comments - also what you think of RunKeeper, if you use it regularly. I must say I have always found it very motivating to keep a training log. What a pleasure to do it all electronically, accurately and automatically now. Also announces (with head phones) your distance, elapsed time and pace - every 5 minutes during your run/walk. Great tool to keep track of your pace (even if you are mostly walking, like me!)

Hi Redro,

On an iPhone 4, Get Running and Run Keeper will work together. I test this scenario and this set up is used actively by people, so you should find it works fine.

I'd probably caution against having both Apps pushing out audio though, I'm not sure how well that will work, but you're welcome to give it a try

OK, thanks Benjohn - I will turn the sound on RunKeeper off - the main thing is that it will still be recording the session in the background. Pouring with rain here in Lyon today - but looking forward to me second walk/run today.

Ran three programmes on my iPhone (music as well). Turned the sound off on the RunKeeper. Worked a charm - and great to be able to log the exercise. 2nd session. Only problem was a touch of gout in my ankle - too much red wine and Christmas pudding!

Sorry...I see the same subject was posted just further down. It really is great being able to run both apps side by side (and your iPod) - RunKeeper is brilliant for tracking your progress. Used it again this evening - 3rd session, Week 1 complete. So far so good.

A lot of people have posted questions about what to do do next after finishing the Couch25K programme. I reckon I will look around for a 10k programme - Runners World has a few, for example. I'll then train to whatever programme I have picked - and use RunKeeper to track my progress.
