Advice needed please

Hi

I was due to start week 9 yesterday however before I had a chance to even think about running I fell over and have badly injured my ankle. I have been told that I have injured the ligaments and it may take up to 6 weeks to be back to normal. Am really annoyed with myself as was really looking forward to finishing the programme within the week.

Can anyone advise the best way to get back into running once my ankle is better. Is it best to start the programme again from one of the earlier weeks - will I lose most of the fitness I have achieved over the last eight weeks - as at the moment I am struggling to walk so am spending most of my time sitting down.

Six weeks is a while, but I don't think you wl loose much of your fitness. What you should be careful of is that your injury is ready to start again. When you resume, give yourself a few easy runs just to make sure it's all healed, then run where ever you are comfortable.

I'm sorry to hear you have had an injury (I did something similar in week six from climbing over a fence), but you'll heal and then you can resume and you will be fine!

Thanks for the advice - I am hoping that it wont be as long as the 6 weeks but will take it easy for the first few runs and see how I feel before attempting anything longer.

All I did was step out my front door and ended up on the floor with an injured ankle - really silly :roll:
