Hi all,
So here's the story, this morning I ran week 3 run 2 but I seem to of caught a nasty head cold over the last few days and this mornings run was really quite difficult.
Given that I have this cold should I just push on or take a break to try to recover? All suggestions welcome.
Thanks
J
Advice please - push on or take a break

Dont give in just take your training programme back a step and do that one. It's too easy to just give up when you are not feeling well.

Depending on how bad your feeling, sometimes its good to press through it and kick out the cold! In the early stages of a cold excersize can help to make it go away!

I got a cold after the first 25 minute run I did and there was no way I was running until I'd recovered.
I attempted to run again today (starting two weeks before the 25 min run) and I ended up coughing really badly.
I'm worried that I will make myself sick again if I am not fully recovered. Should I just go back another step and try again?

It all depends how unwell you are. If you are running a fever or unwell with a viral illness it is actually dangerous to exercise intensively as sometimes viruses can affect the heart muscle which leaves you vulnerable to abnormal heart rhythmns. Just a cold?? Your body will tell you. If it feels terrible your body probably needs rest. Our bodies are pretty wise... We should listen to them.

I've always heard if you are only sick from the neck up, then push through, but if it's more of a whole body thing, then take a break. So if you have any body aches or fever, that's when you should take a break. But if it's just a head cold, it's going to be hard to do because of the congestion, but you will knock out your cold faster if you work out.
