Week 5. Run 03. Done.

I haven't done any form of exercise in over twenty years. Beer belly. The works. Today I completed the daunting task of week 5 run 3. Twenty minutes non stop running. I am so very proud of myself. When I finished. I felt like doing a Rocky type whoop at the top of those stairs.

However far too out of breath for that. But I did it. God damn I did it.

My advice.. What really helped was constantly encouraging myself. Also the five minute cues helped. Then once I had reached ten minutes. I turned round and ran exactly the same route home. Then knowing how far I had to run... Even before the last minute mark, I knew i was nearly done.

It is very daunting but so exhilarating when you complete it.

You can do it....

Bring on week 6.. Nothing scares me now !!!!!

Thanks for your post! It has inspired me. I have finished week 2 today and found it quite tough so was worried about week 3 next week, however your post has made me feel more positive, thanks!

Positivity is what it's all about. A friend of mine who did Couch to 5K last year after never running before gave me perhaps the best piece of advice. She said "The programme will *never* ask you to do something that you're not capable of". So, as long as you're honest and complete the runs that it tells you - and repeat any that you don't make for what ever reason (everyone has bad days) - you'll be fine 8-)
