I am again apprehensive about the run coming up on Monday. I have completed the last of walk and run combination and have reached the 25 minutes of straight running stage! How will I ever do it? Any words of inspiration??

Roseanne,

I just did mine last night. I will admit semi defeat. I had to stop and walk about 3 times. 10 seconds each for the first 2 times and 20 seconds the third. This was in the last 8 minutes.

I am going to use an excuse. It was 98 degrees. No water. And I was living on 4 hours sleep the previous 48 hours. But, I got my run in. In fact, while I wasn't completely successful, I am giving myself a pass.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. The runs earlier in the week were in another city (Houston). And being tired and exhausted from the last week didn't make for optimal running conditions. However, I am really happy to have been able to put in the time. Monday is going to be rough, due to travel, so I might not do the 2 day off and run tomorrow.

In all, Roseanne, if you've done well with the first two runs (and you successfully ran the 20 minute run, right?), then it's not really all that bad. I promise!

Roseanne, What happened to the positive thinking? lol You have done the 20......when you hear the last five min prompt it will spur you on..... It really will....by then you won't want to have done 20mins and let a pesky five beat you.... and if you do, like chipset said, a 10 sec walk is ok - no shame....whatever you do - there is always the next run or the next one to get it right......

You'll do it! I had doubts myself when I got to that point but I cracked it first time and now I'm facing 28 mins for the first time tomorrow morning!

Good luck and let us know how you get on!

Dawn is right... When you hear about the last 5 minutes, it goes by and is encouraging. In fact, when you hear that, you won't even think about the fact that you've run 20 already. And before you know it, the 1 minute prompt will be there.
