Weight gain

I weighed myself today iam on week 5 run 2 i have gained six pounds in weight since starting.... Not happy i thought i would lose weight not gain it, iam eating sensibly and cyxling 8 miles a day on top of the running to get too and from work... Whats going on?

Muscle weighs more than fat Lee. Also, you may be eating more. I know my appetite increased with exercise.

Hi lee. A lot of people gain weight somewhat in the first few months after they quit smoking. For some of them it is because the appetite is transiently increased after quitting and they nibble more. But other people's metabolism subtly alters at first so they can gain weight even when they don;t eat any more. But the good news is that- as long as caloric intake does not go up - then the weight comes off after a few months - especially if you keep active (.. as you clearly are with this programme!).. As Ian also says - muscle weighs more than fat as well. Cheers
