Just finished the 2 8min runs glad to say all went well Apart from start of 1st run when I was chased by a dog (playfully I'm pleased to say) but it did halt my run slightly , got hard at the end of 2nd run but that was maybe down to choosing quite a hilly route at the start of the run today , still onwards and upwards and now for the dreaded run 3 and 20 mins non stop Running . today with the 3 5min walks and 2 8min runs I covered 2.8miles which I was really pleased with . Hope everyone's still enjoying the programme and if not just keep with it , it will pay off in the end .

Also just done the week5 run 2 and realised the next one is for 20 minutes !
I'm so going to struggle with the 20 min run
Just got back from the gym, managed to run over 4k but with walks in between.
So how do you jump from 5 min runs to 20 min run without stopping ?

Hey! Seems like all three of you are at that w5r3 point! Well done so far. Have faith in yourself. You'll make it. Just make sure you warm up nicely before with the 5 min brisk walk. Then keep your pace slow for the 20 min run. I found it helped by thinking to myself that I had already done 16 minutes running - only with a 5 min walk in the middle. So the w5r3 20min run was just two 8 mins joined together and an extra 4min on top. It might sound like psychowaffle - but it helped me. Enjoy the feeling. And wait till Coach Claire tells you something special at the end of the 20 min run. I had a grin the size of a Cheshire cat! Good luck all 3 of you and let us all know how you got on! Mike

Can't wait to see how you all felt about the 20 min. run. I didn't believe that it was possible to jump to 20 min., but I managed to do it. I'm sure that the other people on the trail thought that I'd gone bonkers when I let out a whoop at the end of it. I swear, it just keeps getting better. Wishing you all a great run week - Shari

I just completed week 5 run 2 today and was more than a little surprised. The keeping it slow idea was vital although it did feel I was only taking baby steps at some points. Well worth it though and I was surprised how easy my breathing was throughout. It's just the legs I need to convince to keep going. V nervous about the 20 min run on Friday. If I manage that I'll be truly astounded. I've been keeping it all up though which gives me great encouragement!

Jellylegs has got the key. It's all about endurance right now rather than speed. Start off a bit slower than usual, even if it means taking tiny steps, and you have a good chance of finishing 20 min. Good luck!

I did it! Twenty minutes straight and at the end felt fantastic. Again I kept the pace relatively slow and just settled into it. What a result!! 5 weeks in and my entire attitude to what I'm actually capable of doing has completely changed. I now know I will complete this program - just have to keep on going out. Thanks for such a great app!
