Just an update !

Well I've reached the 5k, a bit by accident really. I had a really good day at the gym on Wednesday and just kept runing and running for 58 mins, first quite fast but after 20 mins slowing down to a steady jog. I burnt 720 calories on the running machine & weights.
I'm now improving my speed and stamina running for aprox 35 minutes. Theres a few serious runners at the gym and they're are giving me loads of encouragement despite me running half the speed they are running!
I'm the one puffing and panting next to Mr Hunks (you should see their muscles  ) who run for an hour without even breaking into a sweat.
So thats it I've run 5k (7k on my very best day with 2x 1 min walks) my next aim is to do my first 5k race next year.
My trainer at the gym is pushing me harder, running shorter times but faster and up hill. Its a killer but I'm hooked.
For those just starting....... enjoy the runs, you will have brilliant days and defeated days but you will get there.
:) :)

Maddy - It looks as though the two of us could run happily together :) . I tend to average about 11:10 min/k, and I also hit the 5k mark unintentionally. After running for about 35 min., I realized that I could just keep going. It took me 47 min. to do it, but I did it.
The snow finally started here, so it will be another 4 months until its practical for me to run outside again. Hope that my treadmill experience is as good as yours has been.

Hi Shari :)
Well done on your running. We don't have snow here yet but it's easier for me to run on the treadmill as i live in the remote countryside with only 6 street lights in our village.
If you are running at 11 on the treadmill you're really fast!I'm impressed.
I'm plodding at 8.5 or 8 depending on how good I feel.
Been to the gym today, only ran for 20 mins but did loads of cardio for nearly 2 hours to make up.
Bit tired today as also did a full work out yesterday
This keep fit lark is a bit of a killer

Take care and carry on ! :)
