High on the achievement of making it to W7 and 25 minute runs, I've signed up for the British Heart Foundation Regents Park Jog on March 11th. Eek! There's no backing out of Couch to 5k now. :o

Anyone else taking it to the next step and signing up for an event?

Aw, I'm sure it's not that bad to make the transition. :) Especially when the weather gets less wintery! I've been running on the roads, no treadmill, so I don't have a comparison. I'm sure I'll be one of the last over the finish line, but I set myself a New Year resolution to run a sponsored event so decided to go for it!

A friend of mine referred me to a race called "Run For Your Lives" which is a 5k course with 12 obstacles and ZOMBIES CHASING YOU. I am sooo close to signing up, even though I know those zombies will get me for sure, as slow as I am! And another friend is running the Disney/Epcot half marathon in October, and she wants me to join, but I'll be moving then and not sure I can fit that kind of race into an already packed schedule. Another year, for sure!

I find the treadmill to be easier, just because it keeps you going at a steady pace. When you run outside, once that runner's high starts kicking in, you speed up without even realizing it and then the run becomes just that little bit more difficult.

Snap! I've also just signed up for the Regents Park jog in March so providing I don't have a crisis of running confidence I shall see you there!

Have you heard good things about it?

See you there then! I picked it pretty much at random - I wanted a sponsored 5k run in the SE in the spring so it fit the bill. Good luck!

I love the idea of this, since I play way too much Left 4 Dead on the PC... hope it comes to the UK, by then I may be fast enough to avoid the zombies!

Great stuff :D I've just started Week 8. I still can't get over my amazement that I ran 28 minutes. It really doesn't seem that long ago that I felt like I was going to die after 8 1-minute runs. I'm still slow and don't expect to do the 5k next month in less than 40 minutes, but I'm taking part, and I'm pretty impressed with myself for that ;)

So far I've raised £215 - with Gift Aid and my employers match funding it, that's over £500! And I have to admit, that sponsorship money is what's helped push me out the door during this recent cold snap...

How did you get on, bex?

I'm pleased to say that I completed this last week! It took me about 39 minutes but I'm very pleased to say I ran the whole thing without stopping and feel really chuffed with my achievement. If you told me back in November when I downloaded the Get Running app and struggled to run 1 minute at a time that I'd be able to run 5 kilometres without stopping, I would have laughed in your face. Including Gift Aid and my employer's match funding, I've raised £770 for the BHF!

I've now downloaded the Bridge to 10k (I wish Get Running did one!) - it's a 6 week programme (3 runs per week) but I think I'll only be doing the longer runs at the weekends so it will actually take me 18 weeks to do the whole thing. I'm still using the final Get Running run for my 30 minute jogs during the week! I don't think I'll ever aim for more than 10k because I'm not sure my ageing joints could withstand it (my knees and hips feel pretty creaky). Running 10k seems achievable though.

If I can do it anyone can, so to those still working their way through the programme, stick with it!
