Re: About to Get Running!

Really sorry to hear about the injury - but exciting to see your process, of learning from a setback and planning to go back with patience and carry on. I really appreciate this (if only I could apply this to all the other areas of my life!). Actually I can barely walk at the moment: more than 2 wee...

Re: About to Get Running!

Thanks a lot for your thoughts. I've had time to think about what's going on over the last few days whilst limping around my neighbourhood. And I've just been revising a collection of writings by convinced barefoot runners. What I realize is that as usual I don't take people's advice seriously enoug...

Re: About to Get Running!

Ahh, thanks for asking. No, they're not! I really wanted to go out for another run yesterday, so I did, and I couldn't even complete it, because my ankle was hurting so badly. Today I am hobbling about in serious pain! Calf muscles AND ankle. The good news, however - and it's the most important thin...

Re: Barefoot Running

The answer is, now. I ran week 1, day 1 yesterday. I didn't realise it was going to be quite so demanding, stamina wise, but I kept up and felt great afterwards; looking forward to more runs. My running felt good: sockless in Vivo Barefoot shoes; landing comfortably on the front of my foot. But toda...

Re: About to Get Running!

Hooray, I did it! I'll paste some comments from my diary here: Day one of Get Running. A bit shocked at how hard it was getting only halfway through. Stamina is the problem with me; hardly able to catch my breath. I imagine this might improve quickly though. I believe that it's the same régime for t...

Re: About to Get Running!

Oh, thank you, Dawn, for thinking of me! I'm still waking up (it's the medication; it takes a while). But it's a lovely sunny day, and as I wake up I'm looking forward to getting out there and achieving my day one run 8-)

Re: About to Get Running!

Thanks, Dawn. You're right, I'm sure. Definitely a little nervous in the way you describe: unsure at times if I can do it. I guess that's just natural (to all but those most annoyingly confident people!). Well, Monday is definitely my day to start: I have cleared the way; and I'm now feeling more en...

Re: About to Get Running!

Gosh, another successfully completed program. Good for you! It really helps my wavering confidence. Hmm: I went strolling over Devil's Dyke yesterday. Beautiful, yes, but I found it hard going; and I really couldn't imagine that I was going to start running next week. I thought I might as well be at...

Re: About to Get Running!

That's hilarious that you do actually live in Brighton yourself! Is that a nice route up the top of Wild Park? I've been up that way once or twice, but I didn't explore it that much. I shall be starting in Preston Park, which is about ten minutes away from New England Street where I am. It's great t...
