Re: Treadmill

Spannah, I'm just starting Week 2 (for the second time after an injury), so I'm a bit behind you. Rain stopped play yesterday (I'm definitely a fair-weather runner :D ) so hoping to get out tonight or tomorrow ... although the weather forecast looks pretty grim here for the next few days

Re: Treadmill

Well I'm no expert, but it seems to me you should be doing whichever makes you happier ... and surely running is running? If you can run for 20 mins non-stop on a treadmill, you're doing way better than I am, that's for sure! I'm fairly sure that one is not "better" than the other, just &q...

Proper running shoes - get them!

Hey all - Well, my foot has finally healed, but it's taken 6 very long weeks that I haven't been able to run (and for the first 4 weeks, found it difficult walking on it even). I now have proper running shoes, as advised (and supplied!) by those fine people at Sweatshop, who told me that although I'...

Re: Girls...what do you do for bouncy ta ta's? :)

Ta tas, what a great term :) Personally I use a LessBounce Shock Absorber, I forget the exact model (http://www.lessbounce.com/ or look at http://www.shockabsorber.co.uk/bounceometer/shock.html as well) but whatever one you go for, go for the highest level you can get, for maximum impact sports, lev...

Re: Gutted :(

Thanks for the advice benjohn. I have actually seen someone, and have been told I have damaged my Tibialis Posterior tendon. I didn't even know I had one! :) Apparently it's quite a common running injury, and most commonly caused by either doing too much too soon (hmmm nope, not in my case!) or lack...

Re: Gutted :(

Thanks Zoe, I'm definitely going to get some proper running shoes. Problem is currently that whatever the injury is, it hasn't gone, so I wasn't even able to go to the running shop yesterday to get my gait measured. I'm limping walking, and I can't run at all, so I'm assuming there's not much point ...

Re: Gutted :(

No, nothing - but then I've never (well, not since school maaaaany years ago, and I hated it then so it doesn't count :) ) run before. Well, unless you count the odd mad dash to retrieve my fast-escaping 3 year old before she does something stupid ;) I suspect you're right, I should go get checked o...

Gutted :(

Well I tried to do W2R2 today and had to stop halfway round due to severe pain in my heel. Well not exactly my heel, sort of halfway up my heel between the sole of my foot and my ankle. It started hurting at the end of W2R1, but I assumed I'd just landed awkwardly while running and as it didn't hurt...

Re: First run .. puff ... puff ...

Thanks for the words of encouragement Toilet Duck! Unfortunately due to severe time restrictions I can't take up your excellent idea of joining a running club, but I'm hoping reading the success stories of others on here will help give me the kick up the derriere I need to keep going ;) Well I manag...

Re: First run .. puff ... puff ...

Thanks a lot guys for your words of encouragement, it really does help to know others have felt the same as me and that it does get better ... that should hopefully be enough to keep me going out there! I'm reasonably determined to at least complete the 9 weeks and see how I feel then ... I'm hoping...
