Ive just completed week 2 and i hate running outside, when i run on the treadmill im happier! i dread going outside but enjoy the treadmill. Should i persevere? i have a 3 year old so being able to run inside suits my life! also i can run for 20 mins non stop on a treadmill?? i know your legs arent getting the same workout but its the cardio im after.
Well I'm no expert, but it seems to me you should be doing whichever makes you happier ... and surely running is running? If you can run for 20 mins non-stop on a treadmill, you're doing way better than I am, that's for sure!
I'm fairly sure that one is not "better" than the other, just "different". I say, if it suits you, go for it, and enjoy - that's the point, isn't it?
Yes – do what you enjoy (I'm vert happy you're enjoying it and you've found a way to fit exercise in with children)!
You might like to add some elevation to the treadmill, if you've not. I've head people say that 1% makes a treadmill like outdoor running.
I think a lot of people find that weight loss just from running is gradual, but that they are replacing their fatty mass with muscle mass instead, which is definitely a huge benefit!
Spannah, I'm just starting Week 2 (for the second time after an injury), so I'm a bit behind you. Rain stopped play yesterday (I'm definitely a fair-weather runner ) so hoping to get out tonight or tomorrow ... although the weather forecast looks pretty grim here for the next few days
I have just completed the 3x 5mins runs on the treadmill as the weather has been really grim lately! I have treadmill set to 1% gradient but struggling to do road running! I can do it on treadmill but not on road, any suggestions to help me?

That's the same as me, I'm just doing the treadmill now as thats what I'm enjoying. Sometimes I'm running through the walking parts. I'm away next week so there won't be a treadmill! I'm going to still do my runs as best I can outside and see how I get on.
I just think I'm still doing cardio I'm getting sweaty and my legs are definitely toning up now
If I can run for 30 mins on the treadmill non stop I'll be a happy lady! At the end of this. Also my 3 year old knows it's her job to pass my water to me whilst I'm running!
“Suddenly, I was part of something. I was part of the running community. The more open I was about my running, the more open others were about theirs. I found out that runners love to talk about running.”
