Struggled with W1R1
Struggled with W1R1
So I've been going to the gym for a couple of weeks now and thought I should try to learn to run. Running for 1 minute wasn't a problem, but repeating it every 90 seconds was! Should I keep going with the program, or keep repeating the first run until I can complete it without pausing?!
Re: Struggled with W1R1
Hi Kpatz,
My advice is to work through the program at a pace you are comfortable with. Once you've done the 3 runs of week 1, see how you feel about moving on. If you're not feeling ready, then you can keep on running week 1 until you are. To do this, just tap week 1 to select it before you press Run.
Also, when you start to run, it takes a while to learn the speed that you're comfortable running at. It's often slower than people expect
Maybe if you can slow down a little, you'll find you can get through the workout quite comfortably.
I look forward to hearing how it goes!
All the best,
Benjohn

Hiya
Just want to say well done on starting the programme!!! I struggled with week 1 and my running was all over the place. Am now on week 5 (the one with the dreaded 20 min run at the end!!) and I struggled with every run so far. I've finally found my pace and it's more like a hybrid jog/galumping round a track - but I've found that I CAN do it!!!
The thing that has kept me going is that every week there are less runs to do even if they are longer. Keep it slow and steady but most of all BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!!
You've no idea the sense of achievement you'll have when you've completed a week!!!

So I went for W1R2 this morning, and tried to run A LOT slower! Seemed to work pretty well though I rid end up doubling the break between 4 and 5 so I could have a drink. Got to half way through 8 when my bloody phone rang! Thankfully the lady told me I had 30 seconds left afterthe phonecsll (which I walked through) so I just went for it
not sure how I'm gonna fit in another run this week... Going on holiday Friday morning to exmoor and staying on top of a hill :S
