Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi everybody
I am a 41 yo mother of 4 who can't keep up with the kids anymore! I am overweight and unfit with a rising cholesterol. I have decided to take things in hand watch what I am eating, more exercise and lots of water.
I have always admired people who run. I have completed day 2 of week one and looking forward to my next run. It's a great feeling when you finish, it must be the endorphins:)

Hi. I'm Laura, age 38, fat & unfit. Don't usually take part in forums, but have lurked on here a few times looking for motivation. But have just completed Week 5 Run 3! Can't believe I ran for 20 minutes without stopping, it wasn't that long ago that 1 minute was a struggle. Only manage once weekly so has taken 15 weeks to get here, but cant remember running that long before, ever! I love that 'the wifie' told me I can call myself a runner now, maybe I should start believing it?

Hi everyone!
I've just completed week one, run three and I'm feeling really good
am using get running in conjunction with runkeeper to track the distances etc and I've improved every session so far. Bought some decent running shoes after my first session and that helped SO much. I'm doing this to get fit and shape up, and at the minute I can't imagine running for 5k in one go, but last week I couldn't imagine running for one minute, so I'm getting out there. Week two is scaring me already tho
I also feel really self conscious when running past people, imagining people are laughing at the fatty who keeps stopping and starting
but I ran past a few football teams in the park today and thought sod it! Who cares!
Thankyou for the app and the forum, I can't believe I'm enjoying running!

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hello there. I downloaded the app last week and just did my first run today! I'm 28, and have been to the gym on and off since I was about 18. I'm pretty unfit to say the least, and running is something I have always hated. A couple of weeks ago I started Weight Watchers. I was at the top range of my BMI, so not really overweight, but could stand to lose about a stone and a half. I started to swim twice a week, and now I'm adding running 3 times a week on the days I'm not swimming. I'm hoping that with WW and the exercise I'll not only reduce my BMI, but also tone my fat into muscles. I've read what other people have written on here about losing weight and toning, and it's really got me motivated, despite the fact that I hate running (hopefully that will change when I get more into it!)
So thanks everyone! xx

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi, to all On the eve of my thirty sixth birthday I have completed W5R3. I am feeling very pleased with myself . The only downside is that I have been doing it on a treadmill but trying to fit in a outdoor run with two young children, and now that the evenings are getting darker . I am running at 5.3 mph is that a good speed to run at as this is the first exercise in about ten years This app has given me a happy, healthy and more positive outlook on life.Thank you
Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi to everyone...I downloaded the app to my i-phone this morning after having started the C25K program last week so I will actually be starting to use the app at week 2 when I get back out there tomorrow night after work. Will be good to see how doing this program compares with other things I have tried in the past...I did a 5K in 2008 and even though I thought I had trained for it...it was hard going for me and I ended up walking a substantial part of it. Main reason for getting the app is to be able to use it on the treadmill in the gym for the first few weeks. My knees aren't what they used to be, and I find the treadmill less hard on the old joints.
After my first week of the C25K i'm loving it and it is good to see how even after only one week, there is an improvement in ability. Did the first session of week 2 last night and still enjoying it. If I can get to the end of this and be able to run continuously for 30 minutes..then i'll be amazed and happy. One thing is for sure...this program keeps you motivated to keep going.

Hi everyone,
I am starting week three of this program today. I used to run regularly but haven't done much but walk the dogs and the occasional sit up for the last couple of years. I love the Get Running App so far. I tried to start the couch to 5k program last year (pre-iPhone), but I was trying to keep up with the time myself. It was just overwhelming. It was hard enough to run!! I have recommended the Get Running app to a few people, and my neighbor now uses it too.
My immediate goal is to just feel healthier and have more energy. My secondary goal is a little bit of weight loss. I would like to lose about 15lbs, which would put me back at 120. Eventually, I would like to get involved in local races.
