I am starting the first run of week seven after a week off due to ongoing shinsplints could any one give me advice on whether I should try the w7 run or go back to week six would really appreciate some input .

I just had to do the same thing. I took last week off because of shin splints. When I started back I should have been on week 4. I did the week 3 run one more time to see how I felt. Then I started week 4. My running weeks no longer coincide with actual weeks, but oh well.
Another thing I am doing this time is waiting an extra day between runs.
