Week 5 run 3
Week 5 run 3
Hi all, I’ve just completed the "biggie"
the 20 minute run with no walking and I’ve got to say I’m feeling pretty chuffed with myself. 5 weeks ago I was struggling with the 1 minute runs and doubted to myself if I could ever complete this plan, I now know I can! I found run 1 on week 4 very difficult, I gave myself a 4 day rest after that one and got through runs 2 & 3 much better. I was pleasantly surprised by runs 1 & 2 of week 5, they seemed to be big jumps in running but I guess the work building up your fitness and stamina in the previous weeks really helps you through. I guess for the first time since I started the plan I can see myself as a runner, good luck everybody, and just remember you can do it.

Re: Week 5 run 3
completed week 8 run 1 yesterday! feeling pretty good about it too.
I still find it quite mind boggling that i can run for 25-28 minutes but i've gotta say i'm really enjoying it. I'm thinking about repeating week 9 over and over when i complete the plan, i guess i'm not looking forward to running without the voice coach

Re: Week 5 run 3
That is awesome! Running Wk 9 over and over sounds good. No doubt you will get faster and faster!
Re: Week 5 run 3

Yeah... Attempted W5R3 yesterday and made it 10 minutes, walked 2, did 6 more minutes and trudged home feeling like a loser.
I am going to do run 2 again tomorrow morning. I do not understand the huge jump. Really.

Re: Week 5 run 3
Magnolia sorry to hear but you should NOT feel like a loser. I think making it to week 5 is amazing.
Re: Week 5 run 3
You're not a loser Magnolia, what i did on that 1st big run was really pace myself, i wasn't concerned with pace at all, i was just thinking try and keep going and speed/distance will come in time. I did Week 9 run 1 the other day, i mapped the run on http://www.mapmyrun.com/ which told me i ran 4.2 km which is a bit short of the 5 km, but i know from starting the non broken runs i'm running further each time. You have done really well to get this far, i remember my 1st run when i was thinking my god i cant do this after the ist 60 seconds! Maybe do week 4 again and see how it goes, good luck and you will do it.Magnolia wrote:Yeah... Thanks, Simon.
I did run 2 again Saturday morning. I will probably try it once more before I attempt the 20 minute run again.
I am supposed to go today, but I think I might wait one more day. Saturday after I ran, my husband and I took our two dogs to the park and hiked trails for about two hours. I am still sore. Bad sore. I think the running and hiking combo was just too much for one day.
