Help Week 6

Post by audharper »

Can anyone shed some light as to why I am now finding running so hard. Never thought I could do the 20 min run in week 5, but we (myself and friend) conquered it and were elated and it really wasn't that bad. However having just finished Week 6 run 2, I could have cried I just felt it was so so hard. Why is this so, I thought I would get easier now!!!!

Don't worry, you are by no means the first to notice this!

Do you think it is possible that your confidence from the 20 minute run has meant that you have increased your pace? Try to slow down, or make a really deliberate effort not to run faster than you were.

Another possibility is that you are just having a bad week — it happens, don't worry.

Don't feel down on yourself, because you're doing great. Pick a run you are comfy with and take it easy on it, even do something less than the program, and then go back to week six when you are happy.

Hope that helps, all the best,

This is my Week 6 and I had a very similar experience. During runs 2 and 3, I had to stop myself repeatedly so I could stop the pain in my side as well as give my legs some reprieve. I'm not giving up but I definitely felt a dramatic change in my body's ability to handle runs between weeks 5 and 6!

I M going to try run 3 again tomorrow, only with a more steady rhythm and better pre-run fuel-- cheese and almonds aren't the way to go for me.
