Week 1 done

Post by Dan Carthew »

Hi all,
Just finished week 1, loving it too! Does anyone have any stretching tip? My legs are very very sore so I was wondering if I could stretch it out.

Looking forward to week 2 now, happy newyear everyone, if there is anyone on here in Cornwall give me a shout!!!
Xx :D

Glad you are enjoying it, that's fantastic :-)

You definitely need to stretch. All the stretches I use are on this page. Don't forget to relax and hold each stretch on each side for a minimum of 15 seconds. You really want to be doing more like half a minute, per side, per stretch, which is as long as it sounds – it's going to take you three or four minutes at the end of your cool down after the run. If your run didn't push you too much, you can get away with less, but at the moment, you'll be pushing yourself all the time, so you do need to get some good stretches in.

I reckon you'll find the leg pain will go quickly. You can try adding some massage too (do it yourself – just rubbing the muscles for a while will help, or get someone to do it for you).

Hope that helps!

Happy running,
Benjohn
