Heart Rate Monitors

Post by bphampto »

I decided it's time for me to get a heart rate monitor. On my last 4 week run I nearly passed out and the treadmill said I was at 201 heart rate. I have always had a problem with working my heart past my Max HR and have routinely nearly passed out due to exhaustion and over working myself, which is why Get Running is the perfect program for me. But I think for continued success, I need to watch my heart rate more closely so I stay in the right zone.

I have a relatively hairy chest and mostly run on the treadmill so I need a HRM that will not have the signal disrupted, and will give me accurate readings. Anybody have any recommendations? Looking to spend between $40-$70.

Hi there,
I have a great heart rate monitor from Mio. It is in the form of a watch and does not require a strap across the chest. It also counts calories while you train. I believe you can find them at Sears online, or at the company website.

Good luck:-)
