Week 1 Run 1 completed!!!

Post by rynaldo »

ok, I am turning 40 in June, and have put off regular exercising for over 15 years!!! I weigh 230lbs, and I am 5'11"... I know... no excuse, but between work, marriage, and an 8 year old son, I have been extremely LAZY... I have finally had enough of being like this... I got this app a few days ago, and today was my first day!!! I must admit, being so out of shape, I have NO idea how I actually got through the whole run... I really thought I was going to pass out...:) But somehow I got through it... I am very happy with myself, but am nervous for the next run... hope all you guys and gals out there are doing ok with the program, and I wish you all the best of luck... I will keep you all updated... take care...

Just got back from my first run! Didn't die or get run over- result!!!
Have signed up to do the Great South Run in October - not sure if it's 10k or 10 miles must be mad!
Earlier this year I started a list of 50 things I'd like to achieve before I'm 50 (Jan 2013) and competing in some sort of race was #3
haven't run anywhere in at least 12 years and am at least 35lbs overweight.
So here goes!!! Good luck with your training !

Its great to read about another starter! So in my running world, its Monday morning and I have just done run 2 - I have not exercised for years (like about 15) am overweight and want to be slimmer! Run one was great - I felt really 'clever' and I did it (give or take a few 10 second stop shorts). Today was run 2 - the first half was easier (although that doesn't mean it was easy!) but the 2nd half hurt. It is not so much the body or the mind - just the breathing. My weak area is my chest and I really struggle to breathe when I start to get to the later runs. Its hard, much harder than it sounds (8 x 1 min runs with 1.5 min walks should be easy right?!!) But I am determined. Think I may need to repeat week one just to get me going well. When does it start to feel easier?!! I do not believe I will ever run for 30 minutes, but have to try - doing race for life on May 19th with lots of fit people - 5k to get to in 7 weeks (maybe I will run and walk the race too!)

Hey all. I have just completed day 2 of week 1. Today was a little easier then the first. Still difficult, but a bit easier. This is something I have wanted to do for sometime now. I have just always been too lazy. Lol. But I guess if I just keep plugging along, I'll be ok. Good luck to you all. How is it going. I see your posts are older, so I am wondering if anyone has actually completed it yet?
