A bit premature!!

Post by Trahyl »

I have one more run left and I've completed week 4, which I have to admit I found tough but I've stuck it out even with a head cold! But I looked ahead to week 5 & oh my god!!! It looks really tough! :o

Hi Trahyl,

There's a good topic going at the moment on the 20 minute run – you're not the only one to be alarmed!

A lot of people find that it is hard, but that it is achievable. Maybe give it a shot and see how it goes :-)

Try not to let the idea of failure get in to your head. If you have managed just the first run of week one, then there is basically no reason why you won't get to the end, given a bit of time. You've got to week four, and that means you are a huge success. If you're like me, you'll have a few knock backs along the way, but don't let that worry you, because you are going to get to your goal if you just keep on heading towards it.

If you find you want to add a few extra runs to a week to get more comfortable there then please do that. If you find you just can't finish a run, then don't worry – it'll be there for you to repeat any time you like when you're ready.

All the best, and let us know how it goes!

Happy running,
Benjohn

Don't panic!

I was scared about the 20 minute run too and I thought it was too soon, but I stuck to a steady pace and managed it no problem! The good thing is, that once you know you can do 20 minutes, the shorter runs feel much easier!

All the best for week 5

Thanks so much for your replys! I finally ran week 5 and tomorrow I've to do week 6 run 2!!! I missed a few days due to work, babysitter probs & illness but I took up where I left off and even managed the dreaded 20 min run that I was so scared of, I've decided to stop being afraid of it & just go for it! I also had to get new trainers as my hip was giving me hassle, they have made such a difference to me when I run, the man in the shop said I pronate (?) when I run that was why my leg was giving me hassle! So now I'm more positive about running & thoroughly enjoying it, I've even signed up for a 5 mile run next month!thanks so much for your support benjohn and for such a great app!!
