What to do when you are supposed to be on a rest day

Post by Belcra »

Hi,

I'm really enjoying this program and think I'm getting addicted to getting out for a run. I don't like the rest days when you are supposed to take a break. I understand why your legs needs a rest but what do you do when you want to get out anyway? I finished W7D1, though ran for 28 minutes, last night and would have loved to go again today. Saved myself for tomorrow though. Trying to stick the program rigidly.

What do other people do? Has anybody tried running a few days in a row and regretted it? Nice gentle walks aren't doing it for me anymore.

Thanks,
sebring

I'm wondering the same thing. On W2D2 Thinking about doing some upper body training with weights perhaps? Feel like running every day, but like you, want to stick to the program. Wonder if elliptical would be ok though? Or now that spring is here, get the fly fishing rod out!! Let me know what you figure out.

I'm finished the program now so have upped my pace a bit and some days pushing it to 35 or 40 mins. Finding that I need my rest days and much as I would like to get out every day my legs feel like lead if I push too hard. I'm using the energy to be more active around the house. Hopefully that will last till I've a full spring clean done! I'm getting out running every 2nd day and I don't need two days off! My plan is if I get out running and I'm too tired for it I'll either slow down or walk. Hasn't happened so far. Good luck with the program. I can't believe what I can do now compare to 9 weeks ago!

It may sound silly but skipping rope is really good.
