Help! What shall I do??
Help! What shall I do??
Really fed up! Was due to start week 4 today but have unfortunately sustained a shoulder injury. I saw the physio today and she told me not to run for a week! It is 2 days since my last run so that will mean having 9 days off. Do I start again from the beginning????
Re: Help! What shall I do??
Yack! Sorry about the injury.
But, the "good" news: definitely don't start from the beginning. You'll probably be fine just continuing from where you were (starting week four). If you find it is tough, just drop back to the week before for as many runs as you feel you need to be comfortable moving on.
Heal soon, and happy running,
Benjohn

Oh, ok will try to start again where I left off. Physio thought starting running and also running whilst holding iPhone in hand may have contributed to injury. Any tips as to what to do with phone while running?

I use a armband holder for my I phone whilst running, I was worried at first it would be big and heavy on my arm but it's fine and so much better than having the phone in your hand or getting knocked around in a pocket.

I also use an armband, you can get them pretty cheaply on Amazon. I'm starting to get a very strange tan line from mine though

You can also get one of those running fanny pack things for your iPhone, if you aren't comfortable with an armband.
Re: Help! What shall I do??
I put mine in a bum bag aka fanny pack depending on where you're from
I put it on lock and it's fine.

I've carried my phone in a pocket, an armband, and a "fanny pack/bum bag". Nike, at least, sell a special slimline one of those designed for iPods and the like, though from what I remember they call it something marketing-friendly like an "audio waist pack" rather than a "bum bag"
It's got a soft-lined pocket with just enough room for your iPod/phone, a separate pocket for keys, and a little hole to thread the headphone cable out of, and works really well.

Hi Kate
I really feel for you as I am in a similar situation
I was supposed to start week 5 on the 3rd June (10 days ago!!!) but I had a minor procedure and I have now 8 stiches on my shoulder.
I won't be able to run for another 2 weeks according to the doctor
I am super dissapointed as I booked a 5k race for mid July and now I don't think I will make it.
In addition, I can already feel the negative effects of not running: less energy, more fat... I am a couch potatoe again!!!
I don't think I will be able to jump back in the program as week 5 is pretty intense. I am planning to do an accelerate version of the full program: day 1=week 1, day 2= week 2... Until I am back to week 5. It will add anothe week and half buti don't think I can physically start running week 5 now...
(and the weather in London is so bad at the moment that it does not help either!)
I really hope your injury will be over soon. Keep me updated with how you manage the re-start of the program.
Good Luck!!

Good luck with your injury - hope you're back running soon.
I doubt you would have to start at the beginnning .. maybe go back a week in the programme and see how you go.
As for where to put the ipod, I just put it in the pocket of my trackpants and it stays there fine. I do have one pair of pants that don't have pockets and then I put it in my bra
