New runner here!!

Post by fmkersten »

Hey all,

Just thought I'd register here and say hi as I start running... wow I can tell you even the first run was quite intense, maybe it was that I ran too fast (I think I saw some pro runner along the way and subconsciously emulated their speed ), but I made it back in one piece and looking forward to the next one!

It being 28 degrees C out there (around 85F) didn't help, and I came back bathed in sweat but it feels amazing. Really got a "runner's high" going on!!

I'm hoping to complete the full program and continue running beyond that as I'm aiming to lose 20+ kilos (~45lbs) over the next six months (I'm 5"11' or 180cm and weigh 220lbs or 100kg). Just hoping to feel better and be more confident with less weight :)

I'll give an update on how things progress.

Congratulations on completing your first run! I'm also a new runner, my first run was last Wednesday, and while I found it easier than I thought, it was very intense! I was tired all the next day, but ready to go running again the following day! Good luck, and keep posting!

Thanks for the warm welcome :) Just did wk1 run2 this morning and it went much better than expected. I think it's probably because the temperature wasn't so awfully high today--you're right, Dawn, bring on the cooler temperatures!

I wasn't so much tired the day after wk1 run1, more just serenely calm. It felt great tbh!

I'm really curious whether I notice a large improvement in my condition over such a short period of time (ie couple of weeks). Most reactions I see on this forum are very positive, so I'll keep at it.
