Oh yeah! Just did week 5 run 3!

Post by Auntjess »

I really can't believe it. I've been looking ahead all week asking myself how I would possibly complete this run. I almost repeated week 4, but decided to trust the program and I'm so glad I did. Thanks to all the previous posts about this daunting run, I just took it slow and slowed down when I needed to. The key for me is keeping myself distracted. No clock watching allowed. I'm so proud of myself! Thank you Get Running!

I feel the same way. I have been a bit of a lurker as of late.

Congratulations on making it through Week 5 Day 3. I just did the same. And can't believe I made it. I started pretty good but had to slow down to keep going. And no stitch this time too.

Strangely, I really don't like to run. I am doing it for fitness. But, last week I had to miss a couple days due to schedule, flights, etc. And I would lay in bed at night thinking how I really wanted/needed to run. Not like in the, "gee, I really need to get to the gym" sort of way, but in the "man, I kinda miss it" way.

Dreading today's run, I completely know how you feel and a big congrats! It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought.

I just finished week 5 run 3 today too!! Woo hoo! So proud of myself, a few weeks ago 20 minutes running was unthinkable!

My legs do feel like jelly now though, which hasn't happened before. 5K still feels a long way off, I'm running so slowly that I doubt I'll be doing 5K in the 30 minutes in week 9.

Just out of interest, how far have people managed to run in the 30 minute runs in week 9 (excluding the warm up and cool down walks)? And for those of you who have run a full 5K, how long did it take you the first few times?

Thanks!

I did 2 miles with my 5 minute warm up and 20 minute run. The cool down was after I hit the 2 mile mark.

That was W5R3. At that pace, I (including warm up) I am doing 4.8 MPH. Basically, just after 30 minutes, I would hit the 5K mark.

How far did you go in your 20 minutes?

According to runkeeper, I covered just over 2 miles, 2.13 to be exact. That was including my warm up and cool down though. I'm quite slow!
