Hey people, I'm Monkey and I have yo-yo
dieted since I was old enough to order diet
Pills! :@0 I've tried every diet (each on numerous
occasions!) but have never given up on myself
(must be the Gemini in me) - but I thought I had
control of my weight, went on holiday, had Crimbo
(Christmas!), then a winter Caribbean Cruise
and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I
hated myself - and I thought what I've always
thought "look at you - who will love you if you
don't love yourself?" - something I have asked
myself on numourous occasions! Anyway, a
really good friend introduced me to this App. I
run (jog!) on my treadmill as I want to
track my progress, but mainly because I am
overweight and am not built for running - let
alone ENJOY running - but I'm willing to give it
a go and give it my all! I have tried on numerous
ocassions to get going (regularly!) on my
Treadmill, but my muscles got tired (training
incorrectly!) SO here I sit after Week 1 - Run 2
(and I've NEVER jogged on a Friday night before -
I normally came home and chilled!) feeling
really positive and looking forward to Week 1
Run 3 on Sunday (again - can't remember the
last time I exercised on a Sunday - let alone looked
forward to it!) - and although I am inspired
by everyone's own personal stories, I cannot see
how the hell I'm going to be able to run 8 mins
non stop, let alone 25 mins on week 8 and
30 mins on week 9 - but I'm going to give it my
best shot and would like to thank my very good
friend, Emma Hibbs, for giving me the
"heads up" on this App - I will give it my all!

Crickey - don't I go on! Hope you didn't fall asleep
half way through my little story!

Luv

Hello!

I'm brand new to these boards, to Get Running and to running. I had gotten into running for a few months about 5 years ago and then suffered an injury and never got back to the swing of things.

My daughter, 14, has decided to join the Cross Country team when she starts HS in the fall. SHe has to be able to run a 5k non stop by the end of August. We are training together.

She's been great about staying on track....now it's just a matter of whether I can keep up with her!

Hi everyone!

I'm new here as well! Today was my first run. I used to be very active, then I got married and had a baby and it all stopped. I put on a good 20 lbs since I met my husband, and after I had my baby I was able to lose the baby weight, but it just brought me back to the 20 lbs I've gained and has made me unhappy!

Lately I've been thinking about starting the C25K, and when I saw the Get Running app, I thought, "Why not just go for it!" I realize that I have only completed day one, but I did feel really great afterwards. I used to be very active, but never got into running, hopefully this feeling of accomplishment I had after today's run will keep me motivated to get my butt into shape!

Good luck to everyone!

Hi there,

Downloaded this app last weekend as it looks like a cheap and effective way of shedding a few pounds which I badly need to do! I live in the North East on the coast and it seems a shame not to take advantage of the large sandy beach at the bottom of our road!

I'm not really doIng this for any particular reason other than my wife expecting our first child in January, and I could really do with being a lot fitter than I am at the moment!

hi every one i'm laura. currently on week 3 run 1, I am really loving it so far :) I am running because I became very unfit during university as i never had time to do anything active (fortunately not much drinking or take away food though!). I have just graduated and made it my goal to improve my fitness and over all health.. It has already done wonders for my energy levels, sleep, appetite (Don't seem to get as hungry as when I sit at a desk all day, and I am eating much more healthily) and I generally just feel so much better. Also before I had problems with breathing, I never felt I could take a 'deep' enough breath and had to yawn all the time. This has gone away completely after only 3 weeks of running, I don't think I was using my full lung capacity before, most probably due to being slumped over a desk for long periods of time. Also I am also hoping it will shed a bit of weight and firm me up!

good luck to every one who has just started, keep at it

oh and also I am living near Cardiff and run on a great common next to my house with some lovely views...definitely enjoying being out in the open. apart from dogs chasing me, but i suppose that makes me run faster anyway :D

Hello everyone!

My name is Darren. I live in Ohio. I'm currently trying to get back into running, combining both outdoor and indoor running. I just downloaded the get running app. I'm going to attempt to jump to week 5 day 2! Let ya know how it goes tomorrow.

Hi everyone,

I am brand new to this site and to running. I looked at this option last year but it wasn't really the right time. I am now ready to start and am both excited and nervous. I have a great friend who ran the NY marathon last year so she is a huge inspiration to me. I am starting week 1 day 1 tomorrow so will be coming here regularly for support and inspiration.

Good luck to everyone.

Cheers
Murph :)

Hello everyone,

my name is Annette, I'm from Germany and I have finished my first week with GET RUNNING today.
For round about five years I've been doing no sports (unless it is a sport to get ab baby and take care of it and educate it ;)), exept some unsuccessful attemps on the crosstrainer.

I really like GET RUNNING and I love the voice of the nice women and her beautiful english accent. Honest.

Enjoy your Runnings,

annette
