Running and slimming world :-(

Post by Jelly_belly_xx »

Hi, is anyone else combing get running with slimming world?

I thought this would be great to get my body magic scores up but having completed week 1 runs which I LOVED doing, I didn't lose any weight :-(

I lost 4lb last week with no formal exercise!

What am I doing wrong? :-(

Dont be disheartened - I've been doing my fitness pal along with this app and ive only lost a few pounds but I think I'm toning up - that is there's less wobbling when I'm jogging and someone said to me that I'd lost weight even tho the scales doesn't show it - don't forget too that muscle is heavier than fat - look for the difference in your clothes and best of luck

Yea, you're right, at the end of the day, whole point in running is to reduce the flab, so the scales are really just a number. I'm going to take a few measurements to check the difference as I go through the program. Thanks again for your encouragement :-)

I was doing weight watchers and this program and for the 1 st bit the weight was coming off at a nice steady 2 lbs a week. Unfortunately I got injured 6 weeks ago and had to stop running. I'm struggling with the weight loss now so I'm for sure that the running was definitely doing something. It Also depends on when you weigh your self too as they say after exercise you retain water. Always weigh your self as soon as you get up. I have had good weeks and bad weeks but overall the trend is that I'm losing weight and dropping Jean sizes and that makes me a happy Teddy bear:)

Good luck and stick in there. Remember that even if the exercise isn't helping your overall weight loss it's for sure helping you overall health.

I've noticed my body has about a 2 week lag, gaining and loosing weight, so give your body a little time to readjust. You said it felt great, so keep up the good work! I bet you'll notice a bigger difference in the future. ;)

Hi

I'm an avid slimming worlder (ex consultant) and a runner. It's normal to see little or no weight loss while your body adjusts to the exercise- and infact, each time you ramp up the effort you may again see little or no loss (I've seen a temporary gain too actually). This is perfectly normal- it is your body retaining more fluid to enable it to build/rebuild muscle that you have worked hard for.

I always leave 48 hours between a run and a weigh in if possible, in order to prevent that 'oh but i was so good and STILL didn't see a loss' moment at the offical weigh in. Though the joys of being a consultant allowed me a 'free weigh in' which I used to use to confirm the above theory to myself.

Rest assured if you stick to the plan 100% and carry on running, you'll see the benefit in the end. If you find you aren't losing weight, it wont' be down to the running.
