How Far - week by week

Post by KeepTrying »

Just worked out my actual distance covered in the week1 schedule using http://www.endomondo.com. It is 2.5miles (4km). Planning on Week 2 - and I see that the scheduler suggests 6 x 1.5 minute runs with 2 mins between runs (29mins all together). Am trying to decide on a week 2 route. Clearly it depends on my pace - but if I stick to my current week 1 pace, what would others advise as a reasonable distance to aim for (I'm thinking possibly a 3 mile = 4.8km route). But I am worried this might be too eager at this stage. Any advice? TIA.

I think I am answering my own question LOL  Just done w2r1 tins morning. Had thought of trying a longer 4.8km route - but felt that this would be too ambitious a distance. (I like to do a circular route when I can - so ideally want to make it back home when the lovely Claire tells me to stop cooling down). So I slightly extended my distance from week 1 (4.0km) to 4.3km. I guess this makes sense - as my week1 runs involves 8 mins of running whereas week 2 involves 9 mins of running. Anyhow - I now have a rough distance for week2 to be aiming for - as well as the programme itself. TTFN

My advice would be not to worry about distance yet. Focus on running the times required at a pace that's do-able for you. If you focus on distance too much you'll feel down when you don't go as fast on a longer run or an off day.
