Week 1 completed

Post by Malteser »

:D. Yay! Week 1 completed. My feet were hurting today though, think it was my socks rubbing against my toe. I ran in daylight today which was nice but a bit scary because it meant people could see me -eek!

Well done Malteser. That's the hard bit done. The weeks fly by. You're going to be a real runner before you can believe it and then you won't care about people seeing you!

I know what you mean! I've bought a bright pink running shirt for cold weather, which I wore for the first time today. Running with my red head, in my bright pink shirt, in a park full of walking people, must have been a strange sight. A toddler looked at my with some amazement and asked me (in the way only toddlers can): "What are you doing?" :-).
But I don't mind. I'm running, and I feel great! Today was my first 45 minute run (I'm doing the bridge to 10k program), and I did 6,6 km. Not the fastest person in the world, but who cares?

woah Petra, don't know if I'm more impressed or jealous! What's the first week of the bridge like? 40 mins seems like a hell of a jump from 30. I can't wait to get started. Only a few weeks to go. Can't believe I love running.

The first week was 5 minute warming up walk, then 4 times 10 minutes run, 1 minute walk, then 5 minutes cooling down walk. Week 2 is 3 times 15 minute run, 1 minute walk.

BTW, I've registered for a 5 mile run on November 13.! I'm not sure if I'm ready for it, but it's in the park next door, and I think it's a great challenge to participate. However, I'm feeling quite nervous about it....
