New Shoes Query......

Post by RachieP »

Hi All,

So I got sore knees around the W3 R2 mark, read all posts on here about knees of all shapes and forms and got the general vibe of go and get my gait analysed!
So I went to a specialist running shop where they made me roll up my trouser legs and run in various shoes up and down a main pavement in the City Centre... don't worry, it wasn't embarrassing at all, honest!!
I have, on the advice of the shop now got a pair of high support? running shoes and have been out in them twice since. Thing is my knees are still sore! Does it take a while to get used to new running shoes, especially if they are offering a lot more support when my previous pair offered none??!
Any advice/encouragement that I haven't wasted my money would be greatly appreciated!!
Also, i've just upgraded my phone and now have an android which does not have get running... boooo! And my old phone is struggling to play through each run without crashing for some unknown reason...so if any techies out there know how to carry on using my iphone apps on my old iphone without a sim card in it then that would also be greatly appreciated!!

Cheers guys,

Keep up the good work :D

I would say that you never waste money gettin proper fitting shoes. Never heard of a gait analysis being done like that, it's usually a video camera on a treadmill but if they have detected the problem then it's defiantly good! The soreness is likely your bodys way of saying you are going to fast, I had the exact same problem at around the week 3 mark with my shins and proper shoes, fitted insoles and knocking my speed right back made a massive difference.

Hi,

Thanks for the quick response :) There is a small chain in the UK with three shops in Cardiff, Edinburgh and London. I suppose if they watch you run they can see what the issue is without all the gadgets.. at least that's what i'm hoping and they don't just do it cos they enjoy seeing people make a fool of themselves in public!!
Maybe I will try to slow a little, although I do feel that I am going pretty slow at the moment anyway. I was also think that the jump from running a total of 9 minutes last week to a total of 16 this week is bound to have some sort of repurcussions on the body!
Great advice thanks, I will try to follow and definitely feel a bit more confident about my new shoes now :D

p.s I hope your shins/knees are all OK now!
