Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi everyone, my name is Linsay, i'm 33 from Edinburgh. This is my second time around but first time with this program. I used to be able to run for about 40 minutes so hoping I can get my stamina back quite quickly and get healthy again for the new year ahead. My goal is to get fit and lose weight too. My first goal is to be fit enough to go skiing in March - wish me luck!

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hello, a late intro, I'm 40 years from london, 2 small children, overweight, underactive thyroid, generally knackered, never run before. I call myself trunner as it describes my running style of part run part trudge. But somehow I find myself at the end of week 2 and chomping at the bit to start week3. If I can do this I strongly believe pretty much anyone can. Loving this app. Loving this forum. Loving trunning in the moonlight with the wind in my hair.

Hi- I'm Maddie, I ran track and cross country in high school (quite slowly) but since I've gone to college I've lost a lot of my stamina. I'm hoping that this forum can provide me with a way to stay accountable for the runs because it's so hard to motivate myself to go out in the snow. Good luck to everyone! Contact me if you want a buddy to keep on track with!
Re: Sticky: Introductions!
A late intro from me, as I've done a few posts already. I'm a latecomer to running, a 57 year old mum, very overweight and loathe exercise. For some reason Charlie Brooker's article led me to the app. I put off starting for ages, but just after Christmas did my first 'run'. I could only manage one complete one minute run - the others were around 30 seconds. However, I've repeated the Week 1 run eight times and have now managed all 8 runs on the last three outings. Progress! I'm off to start Week 2 today.

Hi guys. I'm Shakil from Toronto, Canada. I quit smoking on Dec 14th 2011 and got running since Jan 2nd 2012. I'm currently running on a treadmill (LiveStrong LS10.0T) due to the Winter. I've finished my fifth run (second run of week 2) and thankfully it's going pretty well. Go me!

Hello runners,
My name is Yoav. I hail from an old British colony - Israel.
My preferred sport is swimming, but I always wanted to be a runner. So here I am.
Looking forward to the next 9 weeks.
Happy running,
Yoav

Hi
my name is Barry and after moving from London to West Sussex last November i have decided its time to get out in the fresh air and get fit. I went out for a couple of runs after xmas but kept suffering with tight calf muscles. So then decided to invest in a pair of merrell trail gloves after 1st run i had really tight calf muscles, so rested for a week found the get running app and have today completed day two of my 1st week and so far it is going well and hopefully tight calfs are a thing of the past.

Hello, my name is Alex.
I have tried to couch to 5k program in the past and failed miserable. A few weeks ago i felt the urge to try running again and found the Get Running app. I am now on week 6. In the beginning i was barely able to run the 1 min and last week i ran for 20 min straight on week 5. I am looking forward to completing the program.

Hi, I'm Max from Quebec, QC, Canada.
First, I'd like to thank the maker(s) of Get Running app and this forum. The app is what got me started as I saw it while browsing the App Store and decided to give it a try. Looks like you made a lot of people running, congrats on that !
I started the program this summer and went all the way to week 7 until I stopped because it was too cold outside. 3 weeks ago, we bought a treadmill so I started program from 0 and I did W3D1 this morning.
I'm not fat (6' - 150lbs) but needed to do exercise and so far, I really like the program.
When I was running outside, I used to map my runs with the awesome Nike+ GPS app and now that I run on a treadmill, I bought the Nike Sensor and use the built-in Nike IOS app. I still prefer the Nike+ GPS one but it does a good job. These apps help motivating me since I can see my progress. The GPS was even more awesome since I could see my runs become longer and longer. I don't have a hearth beat sensor yet but might get one someday. The treadmill has a sensor but it doesn't look to be really accurate.

Hi all.
Just a quick introduction.
My name is Ted. I'm from West Chester, PA in the USA... about 30 minutes west of Philadelphia.
I'm 42, and have been significantly overweight my whole adult life. I got into Taekwondo thanks to my daughters about two years ago and have had a great improvement in my physical health... 3 or 4 classes a week have helped me to drop over 40 pounds since I started in 2010.
The couch 2 5k program is part of an additional dedication to getting more fit and dropping more weight as I prepare to test for my black belt later this year.
Today was day 1 of week 1... I started walking last year during the summer, so I didn't think I would have much trouble jumping right in... and I didn't. I finished it with relative ease... covering 2 miles in just under 30 minutes combined running and walking... but I've NEVER had 8 minutes of running like that before. I feel great, and though I have a lot of weight to lose yet... my feet, calves and knees all feel surprisingly good after running for the first time since I was young.
Thanks for this site and the iPhone app... they are a great motivator.
