Today i finished w6R3.25 min straight running. I am running at the gym on the treadmill . I walk at 4mph and run at 5mph. but today i increased to 5.2mph. That gives me a pace of 11:31. In those 25 min i ran 2.17miles. I am very proud of my accomplishment especially that 6 weeks ago i barely made through week 1. I find i can run more at ease on the weekends. Dureing the week after work i do struggle a bit. I am planning on slowly increasing my speed at the treadmill to 6.2 mph so that i can run 5k in 30 min. I want to go first for stamina and then speed, but in 8 weeks i would like to participate in the local 2mile run. I am excited. I am also looking and searching for local running clubs. I live in the USA in Kansas and it is a bit difficult.
Just wanted to say that i am glad that i found "Get Running"
Finished week 6, Ready for more
Re: Finished week 6, Ready for more
Wow! That's a fantastic achievement! You should be super proud of yourself. I think stamina first seems v sensible and I'm gonna do the same. I've just finished week 3 today and am astounded that it's been fine. Same as you I walk about 4mph and run about 5mph on the road. Haven't tried the treadmill yet but getting so much from being outdoors. How did u find the jump to 5 / 8 and 20 mins? I'm nervous!
Re: Finished week 6, Ready for more
at first i thought i was not able to, but once i started , i just plugged along and the time was done in no-time at all. I Have to admit, i scheduled my first long run on the weekend, since after work during the week i am just to tired to attempt something like that. Funny thing, on Week 6 day 2 you run 2x10 min, i thought that should not be a problem since i know i could run 20 min....at the second 10 min i was getting more and more tired and i just could not figure out why. Turned out i ran the entire time on an incline.....haha... Now i know i can do that too, lol.
Now i am on Week 7. I did 25 min straight running, feeling very accomplished, espec. at the end of a long day. I never thought i could do all that and best of all no pain, in my knees or legs. Keep at it, you can do it. I am planning on a 2 mile fun run for St. Patricks Day, really excited about this too
