First time I "Feel like a runner"

Post by I'm Runnin' »

Completed Week 6 Run 3 on Thursday ... completed 2.6 miles in the 25-minute run, and really had to push through it. I even stopped once (paused the app) for a minute or so to get a drink of water and catch my breath. It was kind of hot and humid though.

However, I completed Week 7 Run 1 yesterday. After my Thursday run, I was kind of dreading this one, but I actually felt pretty good all the way through. I kept my breath the whole time, and was only experiencing a bit of leg fatigue at the end. I completed 2.8 miles (a whole extra lap on my local track) with this run ... great to see a real improvement between two runs.

I'm so excited that it's becoming easier and that my performance is improving. I've shaved a minute off my mile time (I could do a 10-minute mile when I started the program ... but no further), and am running further than I ever have in my life. I'm pretty sure I'll be completing the full 5K distance in week 8 when it gets to be a 28 minute run. I figure even if that's the case, I'll keep training on time rather than distance ... better to feel confident I can go further than I need to.

I'm probably going to look for my first 5k to enter this Autumn...
