First Run! Hi all!

Post by Haylez »

Hey all!

Ran my first run today and just reading through the forum. It's so inspiring hearing everyone - especially those who have never ever been a runner and can now run 20 or 30 minutes!

My story... I first tried running at over 100kgs and injuries myself. I was going way too hard too fast (thinking I'd be like the biggest loser..) poor cheap shoes, along with the treadmill aligned too high as well - I injured my shins for 2 months that even getting out of bed I'd feel pain... Long story short! Since then I've been eating well most days lol hitting the gym and have lost 24kgs. I haven't been running since the injury - its been a big fear, I've been waking and live on the Stepmill, Steppers and Eliptical machines for my cardio. Now I'd love to run 30 mins. This app looks a real safe approach - still worried about shin splints/fractures but got to
Let that go. Wearing my assics gels and not worrying about alignment.

If anyone wants to share their experiences so far would live to hear from you!

Also wanting to lose my last 10kgs and thought now weighing less too will get into
Running. Heard a few reports in here with no weight loss. Been frustrating lately with my weight stuck hovering a number but I'm losing the cms!

Hi to you!
Welcome to the forum! This is the best place ever! I'm on week 9 and everytime I say that I can't believe it! I was hoping to lose weight by running and I have to say I haven't. But what I have lost is inches! And I've dropped a size and a half. But the number on the scale doesn't change much, so I quit looking at the scale! I think eventually more weight will come off, but this is a slow, reliable way to get fit!

As far as videos, I haven't really looked, but I have found a few tips off of Pinterest. I have gotten most of my encouragement from the forum. I know there are running magazines out there you may check out.

Let us know!

Hi!

Sheri, it's so motivating to read your posts! I really can't imagine yet running for 30 minutes in only 7 weeks, but hey, I have actually never thought that I'd do some running and especially not that I'd enjoy it!

Haylez, you lost 24kg, that's amazing! Well done! I am looking forward to read about your progress. Take care of yourself and try not to over-do it, it would be such a shame to injure yourself again. Don't forget the stretching before and after the work-out and just enjoy seeing the changes on your body.
