Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi Everyone, I'm Sarah and I live in Tokyo, I am on week 3/run 2 of the Get Running programme and loving it so much that I have just entered a 5km fun run on the 1st December...Here's hoping I make it through!

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi everyone, Liz here from the Netherlands. I just finished W2R1 this morning and got totally soaked from the rain
It felt absolutely fantastic, though! I've never done running before and I am surprised how much I enjoy it. It's great to just turn on your iPod and tune out life for a half hour and simply run!

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hi! My name's Teresa and I started using this app about 7 weeks ago when I decided to quit smoking. I'm already overweight and didn't want to gain any extra weight once I had quit so decided to learn to run. I love this app! The first time I used it I couldnt run for 1 minute and today I just completed the first run of week 6
that's so amazing! Also because I want to be able to complete the running I'm not thinking about smoking at all because I can run now without my chest feeling like its going to explode! Huge thanks for this app! Can we have a 10km one now please
x

Hi everyone,
My name is Linda and i live in Scotland. I did week 1, run 1 today and i feel fab. Started off brisk walking in June this year and wanted to graduate to running but didn't know how to do it alone - this app is a great introduction and i am determined to complete the course.

Hi everyone!
My name is Carina, I am 28 years old and live in Sweden and I did my first run yesterday, using Get Running. I have done some attempts at exercising before but sadly never kept up with it. I am not VERY unhealthy, but I am starting to get chubby and I really think I would feel better if I started running. Hopefully I will be able to keep up with the Get Running program
Cheers,
lazy-ass swede.

Wassup Runners!
My name Isaiah and I'm a athlete(especially in football) from VA. I've been planning to run for awhile now but never really got around to it. Like most, i tried an app or two in my time and did good the first but i always fell off before I got any better and ended up just deleting the app and went on with life because i lacked motivation. I hoping this app turns out better than the rest, because I'm in sort of a dilemma.
You see, i kind of paraniod about my apperance. Its not that im fat, and technicaly i dont think im out of shape with me doing football since i was five but the problem is that football is currently the only sport that i actually do for a real team and if you know anything about the sport you would realise that its only like 10-12 games in highschool (im a rising sophmore). So that means whenever the season not around i'm sitting around the house getting fat. I gain alot of wieghtt then the season starts back up ands back to work. The problem with this is that all the work im putting in during the season to get my very much wanted 6-pack and and flat chest(yall know what im talking about (; ) is just being ruined by my summer munching and it so irrattating! I'm mean if i lay down and feel my stomach i can actually feel a six pack, but it's covered in a layer of fat!
It's been like this for a couple years now and it's really started to afect my life, like in gym when all the fellas play touch football with all the ladies on the sidlines. We get our teams and like always a couple plays in people start to forget who's on thier team, so what do we do to make sure they don't forget? That's right shirts and skins and it doesnt take a genuis to know what team im on. Im lucky not to be a complete blob but i do have a chest with nipples that pole out a lil, very embarrising, espicially with the girl i like watching me take my shirt off from the sidelines
Now if that wasnt bad enough a couple days ago we went to 6flags and bought Season passes, which we can go all year long and not have to pay a dime more ticket wise. So sound good right? I thought so to until i found out that it has a famous waterpark inside called hurricane harbor. You should see where this is going.... So anyway of course my little bro wants to go on the slides and since im looking after him while my p-rents do thier thing.
So i take him over there and rides his rides and i watch making he doesnt do anything stupid, you know keeping an i eye on him, until he finally decides to ride a ride called The Tornado, which is suppose to be the funnest in the whole waterpark. The thing is it takes two to ride, so of course my lil bro asks for me to go with him. At first i said no because c'mon, what overwieght person want to take thier shirt off in front pf the beach bodies with perfect tans? I mean i rode the batman, joker, and even the superman but just the fact i had to take my shirt off made this one diffucult ride to get on but i gathered my pride and went flopping to the line with our tube. Now since it was like a monday its was pretty sort lines at the park. So we climbing the stairs with the tube of what usually takes hours in just seconds so im feeling pretty good at this point. Im thinking in my head maybe im just overcreacting thats hardly and girls here anyway when we finally see the other people in line at the top off the steps. And guess what? Thepeople right in front of us just so happen to be two girls my age w/ boyfriends that god like 20 pacs. So now im trying to cover my unmanly chest up withe tube but it had holes it so there was no way i could cover my chest and stomach. One of the guys got a glance of my moobs and let out a snigger.Thats when one of the girls looked backed and got a good look at me. She didnt say anything butci could tell she felt bad for me
And that was the last straw. It was bad enought for the girls to be there but my lil bro to? Oh no, it game time. So i bugged parents about letting me earn $15 for an irunes card in which it bough get running and and app called gorilla workouts. So you can see why this means so much. I dont care what other think off me but i need to be proud of myself though. But um yeh thats my story up to date
and if you have a story like it or just want to łend some encouragement to keep going what other think off me but i need to be proud of myself though. But um yeh thats my story up to date
But anyway Im defiantly need some motivation to keep going caz i did the first run today and already feel burn in legs. I feel like just sleeping for a week now haha so tif you want to keep me up follow me on twitter @SilverRiegn and ill try to keep you posted. And who know, you might be inspiring greatness (:

Re: Sticky: Introductions!
Hello, my "name" is TruckerDerek. I am a truck driver, from Pennsylvania (USA). I am tired of being fat & lazy. I've already lost almost 75 lbs by walking, but have been stuck at about 300 for over 6 months.
As a motivator, I entered my first 5K race since 1998, and my goal is to just run the entire 5K. I just completed W1D1, and already feel some of the high from when I was in the military and used to run daily. Now if my legs would just stop shaking...

I'm Jacq and I just completed week six of Get Running! I love it. I tried to do a walk/run program before where I kept track of my transitions using a watch. It was so disruptive and made the time seem to go so much more slowly. I love Get Running and I'm really pleased with my progress.

Hi everyone, I'm from Scotland , 36 year old mum of 3. I'm very new to all of this but today I did week 1 run 1 and I did actually run for 8 minutes in all!!!! I've astounded myself!! I'm not overweight but I am so unfit and every time I see the London marathon or north run on tv I get emotional and so want to be able to run so I got the app and as I say did my first session today!!! Somehow I will have to keep motivated but I am determined to run!!
