Finding week 7 so hard

Post by Digbycat »

Thinking of dropping back a week.

My last thread on here was where I had fallen at the 20 min mark of w6r3. The good news is on Sunday I got up as usual and did the 25 minutes. Really slowly but woo hoo.

Since then the second two runs have been dreadful. I've just not been able to do them at all. I have been running later in the day because the mornings are starting to get darker and my favourite route isn't really safe in the dark. I really don't like it the atmosphere seems so much harder to run in everything from my legs to my lungs feel heavier.

On the plus side the distance has been longer and ridiculously the speed overall quicker so I guess I'm just not pacing it properly. Thank goodness for run keeper or I would be totally unaware if any improvement.

Anyway no idea what next week will bring. I will probably just repeat the week by I have been tempted to drop back to week 6.

As ever thank you everyone for listening and for your support I love this app and even looking back at my own forum posts makes be realise how far I have come.

The one thing I think I've really learnt from this process is even a bad run adds to your base fitness so don't let it put you off :)

I'm kind of with you as well. I've done the last 3 runs on a treadmill and was actually running 30-35 mins. But last night I ran outside since it was finally cooler and the 25 min run was a lot tougher but I ran a lot further.

So I think a lot of it is pacing and I was obviously running pretty slow on the treadmill. I also noticed last night that I ran the first mile pretty fast and so I forced myself to slow down which helped.
