Week 7 run 1. 25 minutes again... was difficult! Especially the first 10-15 minutes. I didn't think that I could do it until then end, my legs felt heavy and I struggled a lot. After 15 minutes somehow the 'end was in sight' and I found some additional energy and pulled through till the end. Was a tough one, though! Let's see how it will go on Thursday. Probably a nightmare, as I'll have fencing training on Wednesday, so I'll be completely sore again.

Did you have another go again already?

I did w7r1 today (I am very diligent about taking my two rest days, lol) and it was just a horrible experience. My son is cranky - probably getting sick - and would not let me get on the treadmill. Not three minutes into the run, he was screaming and crying, and I thought he'd used the toilet and needed help or something, so I had to go see what the fuss was. No reason, just him watching his favorite movie and he wanted me to join him.

That was pretty much how I passed today's run. Five or ten minute bursts and off to see what the screaming was about. It was never anything more serious than "open my yogurt," or "get me a drink" but still. How was I to know without going to look? Usually he's quite content to sit down with a snack and a drink and watch some tv while I'm on the treadmill, but today nothing was right and I was a big meanie.

Hope your son is doing well and didn't get sick! Can image that it's difficult to not hop off the treadmill immediately when you hear some crying!

I should do run 2 of w7 today, but not sure yet if I can/should. Had fencing training again last night and I think I tore a muscle... also, I can feel that I was using muscles that I haven't used in a very long time and it is very painful to walk stairs... so not sure if it's smart to do it today. On the other hand, I'll be flying to the US tomorrow afternoon, so probably won't do any running tomorrow and also not on Saturday... hmmm.. really have to get back to the 3 runs a week, as I would love to finish the program in 2.5 weeks and start preparing for my first 5k run! :D

Good luck with the rest of the week!

not sure where I found the energy and motivation from, but I did manage to get out and nail the run again! I must say, week 7 is pretty heavy somehow. Wonder how 28 and 30 minutes will feel like. My pace is just so slow, it's very frustrating. Would love to be able to run 5k in 30 minutes, but I am still very very far away from that :(

Wow! Congrats for getting out there despite everything. Takes a lot of motivation!

I am also struggling with week 7, and will probably repeat it. Like you, I can't find a good pace and stick with it. I even slowed down a bit today, and it definitely felt more manageable, but I was still really struggling.

The 28 and 30 minute runs are not so bad. It's week 7 that seemed the hardest to me the first time around, and that's true again this time. I'm definitely not where I wanted to be by this time, got the cruise coming up in two weeks and I'm not nearly as fast as I'd hoped to be. It's disappointing, but I have made progress, so trying not to let it get me down too much.

Sad to say, I am so discouraged right now. I really struggled with today's run, and once I slowed down to my "old" running speed, it felt great. It was like coming home: yes, this is where I am supposed to be! Right now I just want to quit and go back to more unstructured, pressure-free running.

not sure what it is with week 7, but I am struggling a lot, too :(
Run 3 was a disaster, I stopped around 20 minutes because I simply couldn't run anymore. So disappointed..

Well, we only have 2 more weeks to go! New week, new chances, I'd say ;)
Let's go for it! We're almost there!

Liz, have you moved on to week 8, or are you repeating week 7?

I had every intention of repeating week 7, since it was such a struggle, but I told myself it wasn't a competition and I would slow down as needed to get through w8r1 as comfortably as possible. And I did it, no stopping at all for anything. 28 whole minutes.

yeeeeeeeeeeeey! Well done! Great to hear!

I haven't done any running yet this week! Shame on me! I did so well keeping to the 3 runs a week for the last 8 weeks...
I have a tiny excuse, though. I am in the USA this week for work and by the time I got to the hotel, it was already dark outside. Don't feel like running in the dark in a place I don't know! I'll try to go tonight, but I'm afraid that I won't be able to do anything before Saturday :-( I am slightly worried that next week will be very similar, which is not good at all....

So proud of you, though! I guess the trick is to try to keep back on speed a bit and make sure to stick to the 28 minutes. Those minutes are more important at the moment than our speed.

Your post really motivated me, so I made sure to get off from work in time and went to a park close by. Guess what, I survived the 28 minutes, too! Thanks for your post, it really helped me :)

I ran 3.9km in 28 min, so I am very very far away from the 5k in 30 min.. But who cares, really looking forward to trying to beat this distance next time and the time after that :D
