New to Running

Post by JackieG »

Hi, I've just down loaded this app and hope to start tomorrow.
I know a lot of people who have been using this app, so really hope I can get into it.
I'm about two stone over weight, so hopefully it will help with my weight problem as well.
Fingers crossed :D

Best of luck to you! This program really is quite amazing. Don't worry so much about the numbers on the scale, focus more on how your clothes fit: I've been running for more than a year and haven't lost a single pound (honest!) but dropped four pants sizes.

Hey JackieG
I'm new to running too! I've always hated it & said that I was not a runner... the closest thing to running in my life was netball, but that only requires short bursts of energy as opposed to the stamina involved in jogging. I'm also trying to lose some weight - I just used a conversion tool because I don't use imperial measurements... & my 15kg goal converts to 2.4 stone! We are kind of in the same boat! ;)

Anyway I've just finished W1R2, early days I know... but I feel SO good. I'm hoping the high that I feel after a session is enough to keep me motivated through the first few weeks. I'm a teacher currently on school holidays, so I'm especially worried about how I'll fit this in to my busy schedule when the new term starts! I also have a bit of a tendency to 'start' things and the slowly but surely lost interest/motivation.

Maybe we can help to keep each other motivated. I'm sure you've already done a run or two by now, hope it's going well!

I've just finished week one, and as I'm 7 stone overweight I was expecting it to be excruciating, but I'm pleasantly surprised! My calves feel like they may burst sometimes but I don't go into cardiac arrest like I was expecting! It is so much fun, and I'm glad I've found someone who is also just beginning :-) we can kick each other up the bum if we start to lose motivation!
