Hoping someone can help.
I started running in early September, a desperately unfit Mum in her 40s, and was amazed at the results using the app. Dreaded the W5R3 20 minutes but amazed myself by doing it with relative ease...
However, the week after that, I came down with the flu and then a chest infection and now haven't run for a month.
I just have no idea where or how to get going again. Should I plough on with Week 6 or go back and, if so, how far?
Has anyone else been in this position?
I don't want to go all the way back to Week 1!!
Thanks for any help or advice anyone can give.
Running after a break
Re: Running after a break
Hi Amanda,
I had a similar issue (although not as bad as a chest infection!), I stopped for almost 2 weeks just before the 20 minute run. I decided to keep going and giving it a try, but only managed 17 mins (it was definitely a mental thing).
Still I decided to move on to week 6 as we're back to intervals... managed runs 1 and 2 pretty well and today I did a 20 min run instead of 25 (but could have gone for longer). It was more about the mental reassurance that I could do a 20 min run - I want to get some longer runs done and then increase the time slowly - not sure if it makes sense
My next one will be 22 mins and only then I'll move to 25, 28 and 30.
Maybe you could try w6r1 and see how you feel?
