wind-down exercise timings

Post by pinkglow »

Hi all,

I know it's important to stretch at the end of a jog, but this is my question:

sometimes after running I might continue walking for another 20/30 mins. Is it best to do stretching exercises right at the end i.e. after you've completed ALL activity, or is it best to do them quite soon after finishing running i.e. after the more intense activity?

Many thanks!

Hi!
I walk for longer after the 5 min cool down too and then stretch right at the end, I'm only on week 2 but I've had no aches or pains yet so I'm assuming it's working fine. I guess the long walks act in a similar manner to stretching in terms of cooling down and relaxing your muscles :)
