Im week two and loving this app. If anyone can advise me on a breathing technique i would be very grateful. I find myself in vicious circle taking short breaths and it tires me out so i pant more and get breathless.
Tried breathing through my nose but after a short
while find myself doing the " goldfish thing"
If i can crack my air intake issue i will be a very happy little goldfish
Thanks in advance for any help
Don't breathe through your nose! Try for a steady breath (at least two seconds long) out through slightly pursed lips. Then a steady breath in (another two+ seconds). The trick is to never let your breathing reach the point where you are gasping unevenly, because that will give you side stitches. Practice timing your inhale/exhale with your footfalls: it really helps to settle you into a good rhythm, and eventually it will become second nature.
Thank you for breathing advice , i tried it all on the treadmill today, initially it all got a little untidy and must have looked so funny ( i took the pursed lips thing to the max!)
But i found a rhythm and tomorrow feel brave enough to take it out on the streets.
If small kids dont fall over laughing at me then i have cracked it.
Thank you again
Wish I could sort out my breathing, because I'm sure I could get further if I could breath easier!
I'm sure when I'm jogging along and am coming up behind someone, I see them turning around think who the hell is that heavy breathing behind me!! Hopefully I will get it shortly!! X
