Finally made it to week 2

Post by Digbycat »

And it only took me 6 weeks.

Believe me this is a massive achievement and I only cheated a bit on the last two runs. I started about the beginning of May at the gym on a treadmill and took 2 weeks on week 1 and I was doing well on week 2 when I bucked up the courage to do an outdoor run, I plugged in week 2 and it nearly killed me. I was truly pathetic. Undeterred I went back to week 1 and went for another 3 runs when my heals were agony, I couldn't even walk down stairs properly - so I bought some new shoes under advise from a very nice man in the shop and I could feel the difference they still hurt but I could feel it was the old injury rather than getting worse. Eventually though I really needed to let them recover so I took a week and a half off. Thursday I tried again sticking to week 1. But I've just got back from my first week 2 and it was great. I actually felt ok and can now see for the first time that week 3 is an option.

Please excuse my ramblings I just wanted to share with people who would understand as the reaction from my half asleep husband when I got back at 6.30 was barely an acknowledged grunt

:).
Can't wait for Wednesday now :)

That's what we are here for. We feel each others pain and understand what your going through. We want to hear a forensic analysis of your runs to compare with our own experiences. We understand in a way that our partners just cant.
I'm glad you managed to overcome your initial problems and your now on track. Keep going and welcome to the madness
